In this episode of Caring Conversations, Brenda is joined by Liz LaHaye, a wife, mom of three, and an engineering technologist. Her youngest son, Frankie, was born extremely prematurely while she was 26 weeks pregnant. He was diagnosed with spastic hemiplegia, one form of cerebral palsy (CP). Cerebral palsy is a group of disorders that affect a person’s ability to move and maintain certain positions and posture, and it affects people at varying degrees. Learn from Liz’s experience with healthcare providers who spoke nonchalantly about CP diagnoses but they didn’t live with their patients after their shifts are over. Parents need the space to breathe while being extended sensitivity and empathy.
