The Underlying (and Harmful) -Isms of Stock Photography

This is a companion discussion topic for the original entry at https://www.caregiving.com/posts/caregiving-and-disability-representation-in-stock-photography

Wow, this article is well-written and speaks to a genuine issue with how we “market” aging. I’ve had this exact same problem, finding photos of seniors in pain and unable to function, a very small portion of the aging experience. I love Pexels.com and hope that other stock photo sites find photographers with the ability to capture happiness, companionship, compassion, and the day to day life that’s part of the caregiving experience. Thanks for this article!

Well said Pam. Thanks for reading!

I agree, this was a great perspective!

I wonder if this issue has been raised at stock photo companies, and if so, how are they planning to handle it?
